Almora
The ancient town of Almora, before it's establishment was under the possession
of Katyuri king Baichaldeo. He donated major part of this land to a Gujrati
Brahmin Sri Chand Tiwari. Later on when Chand kingdom was founded in Baramandal,
the town of Almora was founded at this centrally located place in 1560 by
Kalyan Chand.

Bhedaghat
Soaring in glittering splendour, the Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat rise to a
hundred feet on either side of the Narmada. The serene loveliness of the
scene is one of cool quiet, the sunlight sparkling on the marble-white pinnacles
and casting dappled shadows on the pellucid waters.
Chamba
The town of Chamba, the district headquarter of Chamba district is situated
in the western Himalayas between north latitudes 32°10' and 33°13'
and east longitudes 75°45' and 77°33'. The town stands on a plateau
on the right bank of the Ravi river valley between Dhauladhar and Zanskar
ranges south of the inner Himalayas.
Chitrakoot
Chitrakoot, 'the hill of many wonders', nestles peacefully in the northern
spurs of the Vindhyas, a place of tranquil forest glades and quiet rivers,
and streams where calm and repose are all pervading.
Kausani
At the hill resort of Kausani the mountains rise so dramatically as if to
reach the heavens. In fact not just Kausani the entire Kumaon Hills have
been known for their idyllic beauty with the huge mountains silhouetted
against the sky.
Khajjiar
A small picturesque saucer-shaped plateau surrounded by dense pine and deodar
forests, is one of the 160 places throughout the world to have been designated
Mini Switzerland. Yes, this is Khajjiar, a tiny tourist resort
in Chamba about 24 kms from Dalhousie; at an altitude of 6,500 ft. above
sea level. The moment one enters the picturesque Khajjiar, one is welcomed
by a yellow Swiss sign for hiking path which reads Mini
Switzerland.
Kufri
Some great Hiking, some skiing, some beautiful scenes and a cool environment
that's what Kufri is all about. It is famous for its trekking and hiking
trails. Adventure-seeking travelers throng Kufri in winters to enjoy skiing
and tobogganing along its snow-covered slopes. The Skiing season spreads
between November to February and the tourist inflow is at its peak during
winters.
Mukteshwar
Uttaranchals Kumaon Hills are dotted with any number of gorgeous hill

Munnar

Located at 1600 Mts above sea level, this was once the summer resort of
the erstwhile British Government in South India.
Pachmarhi

Sunderbans
Sundarbans, formerly SUNDERBUNDS, vast tract of forest and saltwater swamp
forming the lower part of the Ganges Delta, extending about 160 miles (260
km) along the Bay of Bengal from the Hooghly River Estuary (India) to the
Meghna River Estuary in Bangladesh.
Valley
of Flowers
This U-shaped alpine valley, formed by retreating glaciers, remains snow-covered
from November to May. When the ice thaws in June, the valley is rich with
herbs, medicinal and flowering plants, which burst into a profusion of colour
in July and August. The month between mid-July and mid-August is the ideal
time to visit. The Valley got publicised as the Valley of Flowers when Frank
S, Smith - mountaineer, explorer, botanist camped here for several weeks
in the monsoon of 1937 and wrote a book, The Valley of Flowers.
